Review
Professor Violetta O. Konovalova, Doctor of Law and Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine (b. March 30, 1927), is a leading authority in criminalistics and legal psychology. A 1949 graduate of Kharkiv Law Institute, she earned her PhD in 1953 (interrogation tactics), her Doctor of Law in 1966 (theoretical issues of investigative tactics), became a full professor in 1969, and an Academy member in 1993. Over five decades she has taught at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University—chairing the Criminalistics Department (1981–1996)—and supervised 27 PhD and 3 Doctoral theses. She has authored over 250 publications, including seminal textbooks and monographs on criminalistic tactics, psychological foundations of interrogation and search. A member of academic councils and editorial boards, she has contributed to key legislative drafts. Her honors include the Order of Princess Olga III Class, the “For Valor in Labor” Medal, the Herbert Manz Award, state scholarships, and the Yaroslav Mudryi Prize.
