In conditions of martial law, the issue of protecting property rights acquires particular importance, since general instability, weakening of control, population displacement and military operations create a favorable environment for committing criminal offenses against property. The most common crimes during this period are theft, robbery, robberies, looting and appropriation of abandoned things.

The issue of combating criminal offenses against property in conditions of emergency situations, in particular martial law, attracts increasing attention of scientists in the field of criminal law, criminology and law enforcement. The scientific literature covers general issues of qualification of property crimes, features of operational and investigative activities and organization of pre-trial investigation, however, in conditions of martial law this topic has not yet received a full and systematic study. Thus, the need for further scientific development of this issue is obvious, in particular – in terms of adapting the mechanisms of criminal legal response to wartime conditions. Accordingly, the article reviews scientific research on the problems of combating criminal offenses against property under martial law. It is emphasized that the problem of combating certain types of criminal offenses against property has repeatedly been the subject of comprehensive scientific research by domestic scientists from various legal specialties. At the same time, the analyzed works do not consider the problems of the practice of combating these criminal offenses under martial law.

The following questions are subject to further scientific research: the concept and classification of criminal offenses against property under martial law; regulatory and legal regulation of combating criminal offenses against property under martial law; international and foreign experience of combating criminal offenses against property under martial law; characteristics of criminal offenses against property under martial law; organization and tactics of criminal offenses against property under martial law.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the state of scientific research devoted to the study of the problems of countering criminal offenses against property in martial law, to determine the priority areas of further scientific research on the specified issues.
